Project overview

At Manning & Co., we are stronger believers in the power of good thought leadership and so we were delighted to be approached by Workforce Software to partner once in developing their thought leadership report, The Current State of the Global Manufacturing Workforce in 2025 and Beyond. We were equally thrilled to learn that the first report that we worked on together was hugely successful and paved the way for making the report an annual thought leadership initiative.

This time around, our brief was to further elevate the conversation by discussing more industry trends and interviewing some of the world’s most sought-after leaders and experts on the future of manufacturing.

Here is how we partnered to deliver this global report:

● We first defined a clear strategy and approach with a focus on the strategic narrative. We helped Workforce Software determine the strategy for the second report after first analysing the performance of the first one. As part of this, we outlined the narrative, the kind of questions we needed to explore in the research as well as the leaders we wanted to speak to.

● Going to market to find out what the state of play really is! We reviewed the first year’s survey questions and results and from there looked at what we needed to keep and what we needed to lose and add to generate a relevant and meaningful second report. After executing the survey, we collected and analysed the data, coded insights, and compared trends to the previous year to see what was shifting and what stayed the same.

● Hosted a series of interviews with industry leaders. We interviewed leaders from far, wide and collected authentic and subject matter expert voices to bring it to the insights to life. We further compared their insights and thinking to the data we collected to summarise the key of insights and trends coming through the data.

● We also designed the report, demonstrating how we can bring thought leadership initiatives fully to life from strategy, thinking and design to full execution, often doing the heavy lifting to make these wonderful marketing initiatives and campaigns greatly successful.
