Can you tell me how long you’ve been working at M&C and what your role is?
I have recently joined M&C as a Copywriter and Editor for our B2B clients. However, I’m not actually new to M&C … many years ago, I was the Content Manager and before that, a Client Services Assistant and Intern. Thank you for having me back, team!
What does a typical workday look like for you?
I start the morning by making a cup of coffee with my pod machine, checking my text messages, and feeding my rescue rabbits some pellets for breakfast. I work from home, and I always bring my coffee to my desk along with a jug of water (it’s important to stay hydrated!). I log into Teams to see whether I’ve received any messages overnight, and then I start checking my emails and Wrike notifications to plan my tasks for the day. At least one of my rabbits usually hovers near my feet, demanding hand rubs and treats while I’m trying to concentrate. 🙂
Do you have any pets?
Allow me to introduce Ginny, Lenny, Wallace, and Wilma! They are all rescue rabbits from local animal shelters, with Ginny (black dwarf lop) being the eldest at age 9+. Lenny (grey mini lop) is around 7, while Wallace (red-eyed white bunny) and Wilma (black Netherland dwarf) are approximately 5.
Are you a morning person or a night person?
Definitely a night owl. I’m slow to wake up in the morning (hence the caffeine fuel) and I often have my most creative ideas at night. Sometimes I write stories and poetry after dinner and if I’m in the flow, I might continue until midnight.
Do you collect anything?
As an autistic person, I LOVE to collect and categorise things; it’s just the way my brain works. I have an extensive collection of books divided by category (contemporary fiction, memoir, fantasy, romance, etc.) as well as miniature animal figurines that I started collecting as a child. I also collect native bird feathers that I find on my walks. I live in a national park, so I have plenty of beautiful feathers to choose from.
What is one thing that instantly makes your day better?
I may be an introvert, but my friends are very important to me. Receiving a lovely text message or unexpected phone call from a friend instantly cheers me up. Meeting up with a friend after work for a bushwalk, beach adventure, or dinner outing also brings me joy. I always appreciate the company.
What are three to five things you never leave the house without?
● Rainbow water bottle
● Noise-cancelling headphones
● Lip balm
● Essential oil scent sticks
● Reusable coffee cup
To be honest, I’m constantly digging around in my bag for these items, as they get buried underneath the usual purse, car keys, phone etc. My bag is a bit like the bottomless bag from Mary Poppins.
