This month, Gemma was one of an exclusive group of entrepreneurs invited to present at the 2016 WA Innovation Summit. Gemma travelled to Perth, WA for the 1-day event, sharing her expert insights on Australia’s ever-evolving innovation ecosystem and the exciting opportunities the South-East Asia market offers for Australian talent. She also spoke about the benefits and challenges of opening a business – Gemstar – in Singapore, with Singapore positioned as a gateway to the wider region.
The WA Innovation Summit brought together some of Australia’s brightest minds to discuss, challenge, debate and collectively position WA as the next innovation hub for Australia. The event focused upon opportunities and challenges such as the impact of technologies upon business growth; how collaboration between government, business and universities can benefit the WA economy; how the commercialisation process can be better supported by government and industry; and the need to showcase WA’s innovation talent and invest in local ideas/initiatives.
Overall, the Summit showcased WA as a key innovation hub and emphasised the need to share commercial insights and work together to realise the state’s innovation vision. The output from the event will inform the development of a WA Innovation Strategy.
